The challenge: rebuild the readout + metric picker so it has one job and one physical home. My answer: it belongs to the chart, you were right, but a static header line still splits the eye between the corner and the curve. So the readout is a callout that rides the scrub line (the number sits AT the point you are reading), and the two pickers are bound to their axes (left control drives the left/lime line, right control drives the right/blue line), which makes each picker double as the legend, so there is no separate legend at all. Shapes carry the series, not color: filled square = solar, hollow ring = weather, repeated on the dots, the callout, the pickers, and the menus. First light is a sun icon, last light is a moon icon, each with the exact time above it, and the curve trails to zero past them so you can see there genuinely is no production outside that window. The line draws in on open, the area is a soft gradient, and a live lime dot pulses at the current moment, so the chart feels alive instead of static.
